Postdoctoral Scholars

Alisha Alleyne, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow in the lab, Alisha is now Senior UX Research Leader, Trust and Safety Program for Chrome at Google.

Sarah Kate Bearman, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in the lab, Sarah Kate is now Professor at the University of Oregon and in the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health. There, she leads the LEAP Lab.

Francis Anthony Bonadio, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in our lab, Tony is now a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, where he is Director of Research and Evaluation. 

Dan Cheron, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in the lab, Dan leads the new Center for Behavioral Health Solutions, and he is also the President of the American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.

Andrew Chin, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow and project director of the Youth FIRST Study in the Lab for Youth Mental Health, Andrew is now a Staff Psychologist at Cambridge Health Alliance, as affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Evelyn Cho, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow and project director of the Youth FIRST Study in the Lab for Youth Mental Health, Evelyn is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon’s Department of Psychology and Ballmer Institute for Children's Behavioral Health.

Brian Chu, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Weisz at UCLA, Brian is Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Rutgers University, where he is also Director of the Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic. He recently received the coveted Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation Young Investigator Award for his research on behavioral activation and exposure for middle school students. 

Jennifer Connor-Smith, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in the lab, Jennifer is now a freelance science writer and curriculum developer in Oregon. 

Dikla Eckshtain, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in the lab, Dikla is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and at Harvard Medical School. 

Spencer Evans, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in the lab, Spencer is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Miami.

Sarah E. Francis, Ph.D. Sarah completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Weisz at Judge Baker Children's Center. Currently, she is Professor of Psychology and the Director of Clinical Training at the University of Toledo, where she heads the Child Anxiety and Stress Lab. 

Elana B. Gordis, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow in the lab at UCLA, Elana is now an Associate Professor and the Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at the University at Albany, SUNY. 

Douglas Granger, Ph.D. Previously a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA, Doug is now the Chancellor’s Professor of Psychological Science and Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Salivary Bioscience Research at the University of California, Irvine. 

Sherelle Harmon, Ph.D. A recent postdoctoral fellow in the Lab for Youth Mental Health and CARES Project Director, Sherelle is now Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Florida State University. 

Jenny Herren, Ph.D. A former lab director and postdoctoral fellow, Jenny is now a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University and a Staff Psychologist at the Pediatric Anxiety Research Clinic. 

Jacqueline Hersh, Ph.D. Formerly a project director for the Weisz Lab and postdoctoral fellow at Harvard, Jackie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University and Director of the Appalachian State University Psychology Clinic. 

Sofie Kuppens, Ph.D. Previously a visiting postdoctoral researcher at our Harvard Lab, Sofie is the head of Research and Knowledge Transfer and a Visiting Professor at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Karel de Grote University in Belgium.

Erica Lee, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in our lab, Erica is now Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Training Director of the Psychology Internship Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. 

Heather MacPherson, Ph.D. Once a postdoctoral fellow in our Harvard Lab, Heather is now Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Department and Co-Director of Youth and Family Psychotherapy Services at William James College. 

Lauren Krumholz Marchette, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow and project director in our Harvard Lab, Lauren is currently an Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She was the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Clinic at Cambridge Health Alliance. 

Kristina L. Metz, Ph.D. Kristina was a postdoctoral fellow in the Weisz Lab and now serves as a Research Associate for the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. 

Antonio J. Polo, Ph.D. Antonio worked with Dr. Weisz at UCLA, Harvard, and Judge Baker Children’s Center as a postdoctoral fellow. He is now a Professor of Clinical Psychology at DePaul University. 

Maggi Price, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow in our Harvard Lab and CARES Project Director, Maggi is now an Assistant Professor at the Boston College School of Social Work, where she leads the Affirm Lab. 

Jacquelyn Raftery-Helmer, Ph.D. A postdoctoral fellow at Harvard, Jacquelyn is now Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Worcester State University.

Gabriela M. Rodríguez, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow and project director in our Harvard Lab, Gabbi is now an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Indiana University School of Medicine and an attending psychologist for the Riley Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic. 

Jane Simpson Gray, Ph.D. A prior postdoctoral fellow at Judge Baker Children’s Center, Jane is now Director of Clinical Training at the Texas Child Study Center as well as for the School and Counseling Psychology Doctoral Programs at the University of Texas Austin. She is also Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and at Dell Medical School, both at the University of Texas at Austin.

Michael Southam-Gerow, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA, Michael is now a Professor in, and Chair of, the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and of Implementation Research and Practice. 

Ariel Sternberg, Ph.D. A former postdoctoral fellow and project director of the Youth FIRST Study in the Lab for Youth Mental Health, Ariel now works as a psychologist in clinical and research capacities at Boston Children’s Hospital and University of Oregon’s Ballmer Institute. 

Kristel Thomassin, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow and project director in our Harvard Lab, Kristel is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at University of Guelph. There, she directs The Emotional Development & Mental Health Lab. 

Ana Ugueto, Ph.D. A former lab director and postdoctoral fellow in our lab at Judge Baker Children’s Center, Ana is now Associate Professor in the Baylor University College of Medicine, and she also serves as Clinical Director of the Traumatic Stress and Resilience Program at Texas Children’s Hospital. 

Adam S. Weissman, Ph.D. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow at Judge Baker Children’s Center, Adam is the Founder & Executive Director of The Child & Family Institute, an interdisciplinary behavioral health program and training center specializing in evidence-based emotional and behavioral health treatments.

Sarah W. Whitton, Ph.D. A postdoctoral fellow at Judge Baker Children’s Center, Sarah is now a Professor of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati.

Graduate Students

Katherine Corteselli, Ph.D. Katherine, after receiving her PhD from Harvard, moved to the Baker Center for Children and Families, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, where she is now a Staff Psychologist.

Geri R. Donenberg, Ph.D. Geri earned her Master's and Doctorate in Psychology at UCLA, where she was mentored by Dr. Weisz. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. 

Joe Albert Garcia, Ph.D. Joe was a graduate student with Dr. Weisz at UCLA. He is now Associate Professor of Human Services at California State University, Fullerton. 

Susan S. Han, Ph.D. Susan was a graduate student of Dr. Weisz at UCLA. Presently, she is a Senior Research Associate with the Center for Psychotherapy Research and Policy in the Institute for Public Policy Studies at Vanderbilt University.

Kristin M. Hawley, Ph.D. A former graduate student in Dr. Weisz's lab at UCLA, Kristin is currently Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri, where she is also Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Youth Mental Health. 

Stanley Huey, Ph.D. Stan studied with Dr. Weisz for his doctoral degree at UCLA. Presently, he is Professor of Psychology and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California.

Amanda Jensen-Doss, Ph.D. Amanda was a graduate student with Dr. Weisz at UCLA. At present, she is Professor and the Director of the Child and Family Division in the Department of Psychology at the University of Miami. 

Melody Kim A former Fulbright Scholar in the lab, Melody is continuing her education as a Clinical Psychology PhD student at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Michael Lambert, Ph.D. Michael was one of Dr. Weisz's graduate students at the University of North Carolina. He is currently a Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

David Langer, Ph.D., ABPP. Formerly one of Dr. Weisz’s graduate students at UCLA and then a postdoctoral fellow in our Harvard Lab, David is now an Associate Professor and the Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at Suffolk University. 

Anna S. Lau, Ph.D. Anna earned both her Master’s and Doctorate in Psychology at UCLA under Dr. Weisz’s tutelage. At present, she is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at UCLA and Vice Chair of Graduate Studies. 

Nancy Lau, Ph.D. Formerly a graduate student in our Harvard Lab, Nancy is Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine. 

Carolyn A. McCarty, Ph.D. Cari was Dr. Weisz's graduate student at UCLA. She now works as a Research Professor of the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychology at the University of Washington. 

Bryce D. McLeod, Ph.D. Bryce received his Master’s and Doctorate at UCLA as Dr. Weisz's student. He now is a Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Department of Psychology and Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. 

Mei Yi Ng, Ph.D. Formerly a graduate student in our Harvard Lab, Mei Yi completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Presently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Center for Children and Families at Florida International University.

Jessica Schleider, Ph.D. Formerly a graduate student in our Harvard Lab, Jessica is now Associate Professor of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and Associate Professor of Psychology in the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences at Northwestern, and she directs the Lab for Scalable Mental Health. 

Dorit Roer-Strier, Ph.D. A former student of Dr. Weisz at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dorit is currently a Professor at the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. 

Christopher Rutt, Ph.D. Formerly a graduate student in our Harvard Lab, Christopher is currently the Director of Behavioral Sleep Services at Boston Child Study Center.

Christopher A. Thurber, Ph.D. Chris, a graduate student with Dr. Weisz at UCLA, is an educator, author, and the Associate Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Phillips Exeter Academy. 

Alanna Updegraff, Ph.D. A former student of Dr. Weisz at UCLA, Alanna is now Professor and Director of the Psychological Clinic in the Department of Psychology at Kent State University. 

Rachel Vaughn-Coaxum, Ph.D. Formerly a graduate student in our Harvard Lab, Rachel is now an Assistant Professor in the Department Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh.

Bernadette Walter, Ph.D. Bernadette earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina, where Dr. Weisz served as her mentor and dissertation chair. She is now a Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville. 

V. Robin Weersing, Ph.D. Robin was a graduate student at UCLA under the mentorship of Dr. Weisz. Presently, she is a Professor for the Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. 

Bahr Weiss, Ph.D. A former graduate student mentored by Dr. Weisz at the University of North Carolina, Bahr is currently Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Human Development at Vanderbilt University. He also is a Senior Fellow at the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health and a Visiting Foreign Professor at Vietnam National University. 

Melissa Wei, Ph.D. Formerly a graduate student in our Harvard Lab, Melissa is now Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California San Francisco.

May Yeh, Ph.D. May was mentored by Dr. Weisz while pursuing her doctorate at UCLA. Presently, she is an Associate Professor for the Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego.
