Andrew Chin

Dr. Andrew Chin is a postdoctoral fellow and project director of the Youth FIRST Study in the Lab for Youth Mental Health. Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and went on to complete his master of social work degree at OSU as well. Andrew worked for two years at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio within their crisis team serving children and families seeking crisis stabilization and inpatient psychiatric services. Andrew went on to complete his doctoral degree in school psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his predoctoral internship at Southwest Behavioral Health Services in Phoenix, Arizona and completed a two year clinical postdoctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. Generally, Andrew’s research interests include the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programs for youth mental health with a specific interest in school and community settings. Andrew’s program of research thus far has included: 1) assessment of school climate measures; 2) school reintegration protocols post-psychiatric hospitalization; 3) school-based risk and protective factors of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
